I’m a writer and editor with expertise in international relations, international security, and geopolitics.
I am currently an editor at the Council on Foreign Relations, an editor at the Diplomat, the New York chapter president for the Center for International Maritime Security, and an independent geopolitical risk consultant.
At the Diplomat, I author daily analysis and commentaries on international politics, security, economics, and culture, focusing on the broader Asia-Pacific region. I also host and produce a popular podcast on geopolitics for the Diplomat. I’m additionally a Carnegie New Leader at the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs in New York City, where I am also a 2016 Asia Dialogues delegate.
My writings have been widely cited and reprinted, including in the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, the Washington Post, Reuters blogs, Foreign Policy, the National Interest, International Business Times, Lowy Interpreter, Newsweek, RealClearWorld, RealClearDefense, Slate, the Daily Dish, the Daily Beast, Business Insider, and Vice, among others.
My writing has been translated into Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Urdu, Thai, and Russian. I additionally provide expert commentary for the BBC, Voice of America, SiriusXM radio, and CCTV, among others.
I’ve presented and discussed my independent and co-authored scholarly research in political science, international security, and public policy at multiple academic institutions and government agencies. My non-scholarly analysis and academic work alike are regularly cited by academics and experts. I have co-authored academic journal articles (one published, two under review presently) and am currently co-authoring a chapter for an edited volume.
I additionally maintain involvement in track-two exchanges in North America, Europe, India, and Japan. I have lived or worked in India, Belgium, Jordan, France, Malaysia, the United States, Sweden, and Japan, and traveled extensively across Europe and Asia.
Beyond my professional pursuits, I write poetry and creative fiction, translate literature, play the guitar, and write code for fun in Python. I used to be an actor and performed in both English and French.
I’m a graduate of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, where I also studied Translation and Intercultural Communication. I currently live in New York City.
